BIOGRAPHY

Peter Duggal is a musician and producer from Handsworth, Birmingham (now based in Hebden Bridge, UK), and the musical partner of Wolfgang Flür (ex Kraftwerk).

Peter had his first release in 1990 on the RHAM! Records label (Liverpool, UK) under the artist name ‘Doggy’. This was the acid house track ‘Psyche’ (B-Side ‘Dog Food’) which achieved success in the UK dance and indie charts, with positive reviews in the UK mainstream and independent press.

A follow-up release later in the same year titled ‘Labyrinthe’ (B-Side ‘Veda/Frenzy’) under the artist name ‘Demonik’ achieved bigger success, and entered the UK singles charts, peaking at 72. The track was sampled by a number of artists, including Altern8 for their UK Top 10 single ‘Infiltrate’.

Both the Psyche and Labyrinthe E.P.s were re-released by Mint Condition in 2021, with additional previously unreleased tracks.

'Labyrinthe' itself needs no introduction, a truly mesmeric and highly sought after warehouse anthem. (Bleep.Com)

In 2014 his 1990 release ‘Labyrinthe’ was recognised as ‘One of the Top 10 best warehouse rave tracks of all time' in Dummy Magazine.

In April 2016, VICE magazine in the UK published an article on Labyrinthe, including an interview.

Continuing under the name ‘Demonik’ in the early 90s a collaboration with Apache Indian resulted in the track ‘Strange Sensation’ in 1991, which received exposure on national TV in the UK.

Through the 1990s Peter produced songs for Nintendo (‘Take The Challenge’) and completed remixes for a number of artists under the ‘Doggy’ name. The most successful of these remixes was ‘Cokane In My Brain (Raggarave Mix)’ by Dilinger for Island Records (UK chart position 54). Other notable remixes included ‘I Got It (Aquatronic Mix)’ by Raise (featuring Veba) which was a significant club hit in Florida, USA.

In 2000, he co-wrote and performed (as guitarist) on the song ‘I Pray’ with Apache Indian (Sunset Records).

Alongside music, during this time Peter worked as a computer programmer, developing music education software (notably Charanga’s GuitarCoach and MusicCoach series and for Cambridge University Press) as well as completing an MSc course in Music Technology in London.   Subsequently, he produced and performed in a number of songs, including for a guitar/synth/pop project titled ‘The Hollow’.

Since 2013, he has worked on new material including original songs/compositions, soundtrack work, and mixes/remixes for other artists. (Some work has been under the 'Moonraider' name). In February 2014 the track ‘Machine Code’ was featured in the Sony Playstation game ‘TxK’ (Llamasoft). In August 2014 A.M.A. (Moonraider Remix) by MAPS was released as a bonus track on the album ‘Vicissitude’ (Mute Records). In November 2013 he remixed ‘Wordy’ for Chapel Club. the second single from the album ‘Good Together’ (Ignition Records)

Over summer 2014 Peter mixed and mastered the debut E.P. release from Manchester based synthpop/indietronica band ‘U.V.’ (released in September 2014 as U.V./E.P.

Through 2014 he has composed and produced 27 original pieces for the film ‘The Last Hit’ (TrueBuzz Media) due for release in early 2015 as well as working with arts organisations to produce the sound for various performances.

Peter also performed as a DJ, including support for the bands Heaven 17 and Marnie (Ladytron).

In September 2015 he began a collaboration with Wolfgang Flür (ex-Kraftwerk and Yamo), resulting in the initial track 'Beat Perfecto'. Peter supported Wolfgang for his Musik Soldat performance in London in the same month (with a radio interview earlier in the day) and also in Manchester. In February 2016 he opened for Ulrich Schnauss live in Hebden Bridge, and in March 2016 shortlisted for the B-Side Project awards at Metropolis Studios.

In early 2017 the PlayStation VR game 'Polybius' was released by Sony Entertainment, featuring 8 of Peter's tracks. (The game also formed the backdrop to a Nine Inch Nails single released that year)

Peter became music partner of Wolfgang Flür and work was completed on the first collaboration (for the planned album 'MAGAZINE') - the song 'Birmingham' - which features Claudia Brucken (Propaganda), and Peter Hook (New Order/Joy Division)

Throughout 2018 to 2021 more collaborations and compositions with Wolfgang Flür have been completed for forthcoming release. Additionally a number of UK and European shows and interviews.

In November 2019 Peter performed live with Juan Atkins (another collaborator on the album) in Dusseldorf, Germany for the Die Digitale festival.

2021 was spent finalising the Wolfgang Flür album 'MAGAZINE 1' which was released on March 4th 2022 on Cherry Red Records. The album received excellent reviews and entered the Official UK Top 40 Album Charts, Number #1 on the UK Electronic Album Charts, Number #3 on the Breakers Charts and Number #14 on the Indie Albums Charts.

2022 sees futher work on the almost complete 'MAGAZINE 2' album (scheduled for release in March 2023), alongside a promotional tour (UK and Europe).
